THE FUTURE OF CANNABIS CULTURE

BY KOKO GURL

Last weekend in Vancouver at the Westin Bayshore, I was fortunate to be invited to the Cannabis Life Conference by Buds2go. This event was filled with cannabis enthusiasts, who gathered altogether in this two day event full of education and action surrounding all things cannabis.

I met some awesome vendors such as Baked Edibles Inc., Remedi Essentials, Mary Products, CANMEDi, Bloom High Tea Social Club, Eden, Barney’s Buds, and Medigreen.

At the conference, I had the opportunity to actually sit down with Shawn from Flyte Concentrates and ask him a few questions about their products. They’ve got an awesome crew by the way.

Beware, this is the beginning of a new era, a new world; the future for the cannabis culture and that is, concentrates.

Generally, stoners are always searching for products with a higher potency than their last purchase because they just want to get hella high, alllllll the time. Right? Well, good news. Flyte concentrates have the bomb ass products but what exactly are they making?

“We’re harvesting the purest and cleanest form of cannabis, which is distillate.”

-Shawn, CEO. Flyte Concentrates

These boys at Flyte are part of the stoner culture, they’re enthusiasts who experiment in cannabis extraction. They’re stripping away all of the flowers materials by extracting its natural fats and isolating certain compounds, especially THC. Distillate has a THC content of 90-94%.

They’re concentrates wizards. They’ve perfected these incredible and potent vape pens that are meant for the long haul. They’re sleek and super convenient because you can smoke them anywhere without reeking havoc and to be honest I bought one of those pens at the conference and man was I highhhhhhh. These pens aren’t your ordinary vape pens, they have a detachable cartridge of 0.6 ml of pure and premium quality distillate and the trick is to draw air first for the oil to coat the coil and they’re tasty as hell. They come in various flavors such as, grapefruit, pineapple, blueberry, sour diesel, tangerine and god’s green crack.

Now, this is a shoutout to all my fellow dabbers because lets be honest, dabbing is the new hip and not all of us are part of the #vapenation, no offense. Their distillate is also available for dabbers. HALLELUJAH! I’ve tried their dab distillate and I was so high in the clouds, I was coma-tized and I was on cloud 9. This is also amazing for patients who are suffering with severe chronic pain or extreme nausea because it is so immediate and effective.

Truly and honestly, I love their distillate because it’s so practical for every pot smoker; you can vape, dab and they’re for joint lovers like you and I. Flyte has found a way to take one product and turn it into a variety of other products that is available for every consumer. They have created an aisle that’ll land you deep within the heavens of euphoria.

THE UNIVERSAL CURE OR WHAT?

BY KOKO GURL

Today is a beautiful day for recreational weed lovers like you and I, for those who believe in the stoner culture but most importantly for, medicinal marijuana.

Did you know our endocannabinoid system (ECS), are the receptors that are located in our brain and central nervous system? They play a major key role in regulating our physiological process and other neurotransmitters. They help stimulate pain, appetite, mood and memories. Blah blah blah, it gets better though and please, sorry for my language but nomine fucking padre there is only one god damn single beautiful and glorious plant on this fucking Earth and that is our lovely Mary Jane! When we smoke that ganja, the THC overwhelms the ECS, attaching itself to the cannabinoid receptors throughout the brain and body, ultimately, creating a highhhhhhh.

However, it’s not always about getting high but how beneficial cannabis is for medical purposes. Research studies on medicinal marijuana are currently being tested on PTSD cops and veterans. What exactly is PTSD? Post traumatic stress disorder is where the brain buffers have been blown out by trauma. Now I’m not an expert on PTSD but I’ve heard and read crazy stories of how these people suffer with this illness. I’ve read the new Times special edition, ‘Marijuana Goes Main Street,’ pretty catchy title but they have an article on

“Research into marijuana’s properties has proved promising.”

It’s absolutely fucking amazing because it’s true everyone. A goddamn Iraq war veteran, Sean Azzariti who is in fact a PTSD survivor is also the first legal fucking buyer in Colorado. His story is crazy and surreal and inspiring; he’s giving hope. He’s a fighter and the struggle was hard but we can only imagine because pain is real and it fucking hurts. Marijuana helped Sean with his PTSD and his anxiety. He also realized it took him a while to figure out the right dosage and strain and found out that indica-dominant strains helped him relax better. In today’s modern era, marijuana has proven to become the soon-to-be universal cure, realistically it is. More and more folks are suffering with PTSD and it’s not easy to treat, especially, when our own doctors, the ones we trust with our lives are the ones prescribing opiate medication for this kind of treatment.

Unfortunately, Canada has become the second largest consumer of prescription opiates in the world and is a public health issue that has to be counteracted against. Prescriptions are 6% higher than 5 years ago with at least 2500 opioid-related overdoses in 2016. The struggle is fucking real because it’s not easy to wean yourself off of painkillers and the dark side is, eventually users build a tolerance. Preclinical research has discovered its utility in treating addiction. CBD has non-psychoactive properties that have proven to interact direct or indirectly with many different receptors, especially with our serotonin system. Serotonin is a chemical compound, commonly a neurotransmitter in our bodies that is associated with mood. CBD’s influence on opiate users will influence their serotonin system, which will help reduce drug-seeking behaviour, diminish withdrawals and cravings. Yasmin Hurd, the Director of the Center for Addiction Disorders at Mount Sinai in New York City has raised rats that will blow your fucking mind. Despite, the rats being the canaries in the drug-policy coal mine, for once someone is conducting medical trials to prove the theory on CBD’s benefits against opiate addiction prevention. She gave heroin-addicted rats doses of CBD and found that their willingness for the drug decreased. She is now trying to prove her hypothesis by giving CBD pills, made in England to recovering addicts in New York.

A Canadian online medical cannabis dispensary based in Vancouver’s, Buds2Go are firm supporters against opiate use. Check their campaign on instagram @buds2go_ca,

“ Pain relief without opiates?’

There is one word in this world that I hate and that is, cancer. One of the world’s number one killer and unfortunately, there has been yet a cure to be found. However, the use of cannabis has proven favourable in treating cancer symptoms as well as cancer therapies. Cannabinoids that are known to benefit people living with cancer has the possibility of controlling and curing cancer. CBD as I mentioned before can lower-inflammation and also has shown antioxidant properties that help prevent the growth of cells and the growth of blood vessels that supply tumors. Especially, with cancer therapy patients who deal with the excruciating symptoms, cannabis benefits them by easing the pain, nausea, vomiting and stimulating appetite.

Overall, the use of medical marijuana to treat PTSD, Opiate addiction and cancer has demonstrated promising results. I mean how much more do I have to write to convince you all? I know smoking weed to pass the time can look cool but the bigger picture is that it’s beneficial for everyone. I believe it will be our universal cure and we all better believe it.
